This hands-on three part series for HBS faculty and researchers is open to users new to SAS or users who are looking for specialized training. Please see the session descriptions below:
1/17/2018: Introduction to SAS Programming
This one day workshop will teach the basics of understanding the core concepts of SAS and of the SAS Programming language. Attendees will learn key SAS syntax, how data is represented in SAS, how to create output using various SAS procedures, and how to create and manipulate SAS data sets using a variety of input data types. This workshop will prepare attendees to interpret existing SAS programs and to create new SAS programs.
1/18/2018: Introduction to SAS SQL
This one day workshop will build upon attendees’ knowledge of the SAS programming language by introducing the SQL procedure. Attendees will learn how Structured Query Language (SQL) and relational database technologies function within the SAS programming environment. Key topics include how to query data to create reports, how to use SQL to create data sets, how to join multiple data sets using set-based join criteria, and how to aggregate and calculate values using grouping criteria.
1/19/2018: Introduction to SAS Enterprise Guide and SAS Enterprise Miner Data Mining Overview
This one day workshop will introduce attendees to two SAS graphical user interfaces that leverage the power and efficiency of SAS, while providing easy to use, menu-driven interfaces that are ideal for programmers and non-programmers alike. Attendees will learn how to use SAS Enterprise Guide via a project-based approach to query data, create reports, and automate the process to allow custom user input. Attendees will also learn about SAS Enterprise Miner, a data mining workbench that allows users to quickly and easily apply advanced analytics to challenging questions. Note: You will need to have a full SAS license on your laptop for this workshop.
REQUIREMENTS: Theses classes are intended for SAS license-eligible researchers. Please note that you should bring your own laptop for the training, and have SAS pre-installed. If you do not have a working installation/license, a virtual environment with sufficient capabilities for instruction is available for classroom use, though again must be installed prior to the workshop. Preparation instructions will be sent in advance of the workshop.
REGISTRATION: Please note that registration is capped to 25 attendees per session. For registration details, visit: http://www.surveygizmo.com/s3/4026021/Onsite-Workshops-Harvard-University
